Terms of Service
Who we are
signet is run by 5013351 Ontario Inc. dba Signet Docs, Toronto, Ontario, Canada (“we”, “us”). These terms are the agreement between us and the person or business that uses signet (“you”). Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with personal information.
Who may use signet
- signet is for running a business: proposals, contracts, signatures, invoices and the clients and deals behind them.
- signet is offered to businesses in the United States and Canada.
- You must be at least 18 and able to make a binding agreement. If you sign up for a business, you agree to these terms for it.
- You sign in with a Google account or with an email address and password. Anyone who can sign in as you can use your workspace, so keep your sign-in secure.
- You are responsible for what everyone in your workspace does in it.
Plans and prices
signet has three plans: Free, Pro and Business. What each one includes and costs is shown on the Billing page in Settings. Prices are shown before tax; sales tax is added at checkout where it applies. Stripe handles billing for paid plans.
On Free:
- You can have 3 deals in progress at once and send 5 documents for signature each calendar month.
- Emails, signing pages, proposal pages and invoices you send carry a “Sent with Signet” line.
- signet keeps 1% of card payments on invoices you send while on Free. Stripe takes it from the payment when your client pays.
Free workspaces and workspaces on the trial also have daily allowances, so signet cannot be used to send spam:
- Emails to 10 people a day in the workspace’s first 7 days, then 100 a day. Emails your clients’ own actions trigger, and signet’s automatic reminders, don’t count.
- 10 AI actions (the Claude features) in any 24 hours.
- 200 MB of uploads in any 24 hours.
- Emails go out under your brand’s name followed by “via signet”.
Paid plans don’t have the email or upload allowances, and have a larger AI allowance.
The free trial
- A new workspace starts on a 14-day Pro trial. No card is needed.
- During the trial, what you send carries the “Sent with Signet” line, as on Free, and the daily allowances above apply, including sending under your brand’s name followed by “via signet”.
- We email you 3 days before the trial ends and on its last day.
- When the trial ends, the workspace moves to Free unless you have chosen a paid plan. Nothing is deleted and links you have already sent keep working; Free’s limits apply from then on.
- If you choose a paid plan with more than 2 days of the trial left, you keep those days and billing starts when the trial ends.
Acceptable use
You must not use signet to:
- send spam or messages people did not ask for;
- phish, or trick anyone into giving away passwords, money or personal information;
- pretend to be another person or business;
- send documents that are unlawful, or ask anyone to sign something unlawful;
- upload malware, or try to break, overload or get around signet’s limits and security;
- make workspaces automatically or in bulk;
- store health information protected by HIPAA, the US health privacy law;
- store full card numbers or card security codes. Card payments go through Stripe.
If we believe a workspace breaks these rules, we may limit or suspend it, with or without notice. Where we can, we will tell you why.
Your content
You own what you put in signet: documents, templates, proposals, contracts, invoices, and your clients’ and deals’ details. You give us permission to store, process and show it only to run signet for you, including passing it to the service providers named in the Privacy Policy. You must have the right to use the content you upload and the personal information of the people you add.
If you connect another app to signet (for example Claude through signet’s connector, or a program using an API key), that app can read and change your workspace within the access you give it. Its own terms cover what it does with your data.
Electronic signatures
signet records who signed a document, when, and from which IP address and browser. When everyone has signed, it adds a certificate page listing those details to the document and seals the file so later changes show. Whether an electronic signature is valid for a given document, person or place depends on the law that applies to it. You are responsible for using electronic signatures lawfully for your documents, including giving your signers any notices and consents the law requires, such as consent to sign electronically. We do not promise that a signature made in signet is valid or enforceable anywhere.
Once you or a signer downloads a document or sends it elsewhere, that copy is outside signet and our security no longer covers it.
AI features
Some features use Claude, by Anthropic, to read templates, draft contracts from your deals and proposals, and suggest wording. Its output can be wrong. Read it before you send it; nothing Claude drafts is sent until you send it.
Payments from your clients
When your clients pay an invoice by card, they pay you through your own Stripe account, which you connect to signet. Stripe’s terms apply to that account. The sale is between you and your client: you are responsible for your prices, the tax on your invoices, refunds and disputes.
Cancelling and closing your account
- You can change or cancel a paid plan at any time from the Billing page in Settings. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for; the workspace then moves to Free and nothing is deleted.
- Payments are not refunded, except where the law requires it. When you cancel, you keep your paid plan until the end of the period you paid for.
- To close your account and delete your workspace, email us at support@signetdocs.app. We delete it by hand within 30 days. Copies already sent to your clients and signers stay with them.
- We may close a workspace that breaks these terms, or stop offering signet with 30 days’ notice. If we stop offering signet, we refund the unused part of any plan you paid for in advance.
The service is provided as is
We work to keep signet running and your data safe, but we provide it “as is” and “as available”, without promises that it will always be available, free of errors, or fit for a particular purpose, as far as the law allows.
Limits of liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost business or lost data, and our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for signet in the 12 months before the claim and CA$100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the new version here and change the date at the top. If a change matters, we will email workspace owners 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using signet after that, the new terms apply.
Law and courts
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and disputes go to the courts of Ontario, sitting in Toronto.
